Town Centre Arterial Road Project Update

Check out the latest update on the Town Centre Arterial Road project.

Arterial Photo 2

We have made great progress this month and have completed the pedestrian footpaths on the northern side of Melbourne Street, installed light poles and kerb preparation has begun at the intersection of Frankton Road and lower Suburb Street.

10 of the total 78 decorative panels are waiting to be installed whilst we continue with the structural panels on Henry Street, Malaghan Street and Ballarat Street towards St Joseph’s school and Church.

Frankton Road

We are progressing with the remaining underground three waters work

We’ve completed linking the stormwater crossings and will shortly begin linking the wastewater crossings on Frankton Road

Kerb preparation has begun at the intersection of Frankton Road and lower Suburb Street

The crew successfully completed the night works to improve road quality on the pre-existing asphalt, raise a manhole to the height of the new road and cap an unused pipe.

Lower Suburb Street

Kerb and above ground preparations from Veint Crescent towards Frankton Road have commenced.

Footpath and pedestrian access towards the lake will be adjusted slightly to ensure safe passage, and allow construction activities to continue in this area

Dublin Street

Dublin Street remains accessible with two-way traffic in place. This new layout is designed to facilitate the ongoing work at the intersection of Sydney and Melbourne Street

Dublin Street will revert to a left turn in only once the Sydney/Melbourne intersection work is completed, to ensure that the work continues the lake side of Frankton Road.

We will then return in Spring to install a flush cobblestone threshold and crossing

Melbourne Street

There are crews raising manholes and installing street furniture working in isolated pockets along Melbourne Street

We have completed installing the light poles and we are making sure they are working properly before they are fully operational

The crew has completed the garden bed preparation work and will return in the warmer months for planting

We have also finished the Northern side of Melbourne Street footpaths

We will be returning in Spring/early Summer to complete the final asphalt surface, with approximately 60mm to apply to the road

Channel drainage install work for the wall has begun in front of St Joseph’s School

Sydney Street

The crews have begun preparing to build the new road and applied the membrane seal and will commence asphalt placement on the upper half of the intersection

We aim to shift work to the lower section of Sydney Street shortly, we will keep you updated closer to the time

If the ground temperatures are too cold, we will continue to monitor and wait for a good spell until we can pave the asphalt on the upper half of the intersection of Sydney and Melbourne Street. If the ground temperatures/weather conditions continue to be unfavourable, we will reassess our plan and keep you updated nearer the time.

Beetham Street

Upper Beetham has been opened with a temporary chipseal surface and resident access has successfully been restored

Lower Beetham underground work has recommenced to complete the final pieces and connect the stormwater network, now the wall work has progressed

Henry Street/Malaghan Street/Ballarat Street

10 of the total 78 decorative panels are waiting to be installed whilst we continue with the structural panels on Henry Street, Malaghan Street and Ballarat Street towards St Joseph’s school and Church

Channel drain installation is ongoing behind the wall
