Public toilet closures
Temporary closure of all lakefront public toilets in Wānaka as a precautionary measure ahead of the latest predicted lake levels and weather forecasts.

Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has temporarily closed all lakefront public toilets in Wānaka as a precautionary measure ahead of the latest predicted lake levels and weather forecasts over the next few days.
The Marine Parade public toilets in Queenstown will also be sandbagged and closed later this afternoon. In the meantime, Wānaka’s Pembroke Park and Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park toilets will remain open for public use.
As an alternative, three portaloos will soon be installed next to Wānaka Library on Dunmore Street, while another 14 portaloos are currently on their way to Wānaka. We will provide details of their final locations once confirmed.
Otago Regional Council (ORC) and QLDC are continuing to monitor lake and river levels. Further updates will be provided on QLDC’s Facebook page, while updated levels for Lake Wakatipu and Lake Wānaka can be found below.
